Professional Development
I am a professional, high level landscape architect whose creativity and talent have spanned over 30 years in the field of both residential and commercial projects.
After receiving my degree from Oklahoma State University, I started my professional career in Dallas Texas. After eight years of practice, I moved to the Chicagoland area and have been in the area for 28 years, involved in many landscape design/build projects.
My experience in high-end residential and commercial landscaping and landscape management has played a role in every aspect of the landscape field. I have significant experience in sales, client presentations, crew supervision, design and installation of complex projects from conception to implementation.
Over the years as the landscape profession has evolved, so have I, not only in design and presentation skills but also as a professional in the industry.
Biography
I grew up in Tulsa Oklahoma, and attended Oklahoma State University and earned my degree in Landscape Architecture. While in school I worked part time in a local garden center and was involved in both the student ALCA and ASLA clubs. After receiving my degree I headed to Dallas, Texas and worked for two different Landscape Design/Build companies gaining valuable experience. While working the first four years I became a Registered Landscape Architect and Irrigator in Texas, passing both exams.
After eight years I wanted to see what other opportunities where out there, so I moved to the southwest suburbs of Chicago. Once again I was working for a large Design/Build company and was involved in many different types of landscape projects. Along the way I fell in love and was married to a wonderful local Chicagoan, Lori Ann and started a family. As our family grew with the addition of two sons, Austin and Collin, so did my own personal development.
Like my father before me, my main hobby was raising my two sons which involved many sports, scouts and church activities. I have enjoyed camping, gardening and wood working throughout this time, along with volunteering work through my church such as being a trustee and helped other organizations like Boy Scouts of America and Habitat for Humanity.
